    TSOL stands for True Sounds of Liberty; the quartet was formed in Los Angeles in 1980 with vocalist Jack Grisham, guitarist Ron Emory, bassist Mike Roche, and drummer Todd Barnes. After releasing three albums during the early '80s, Mitch Dean and Joe Wood joined the band. 1987's Hit and Run barely scraped the bottom of the album chart.
