From a historical perspective, Yoder's most important association was with Woody Herman. Both men were members of Isham Jones' Juniors in the mid-'30s; when Jones broke up the group in 1936, Herman and five other ex-members -- including Yoder -- formed the core of a new cooperative outfit fronted by Woody that became known as the Band That Plays the Blues.
