At the tender age of 34
Gretchen Wilson has shed her high-school dropout tag (she quit in ninth grade) for a diploma at 34. Having passed her GED (General Educational Development) exam in April, the country star will walk in a graduation ceremony on May 15.
"I certainly don't want [my 7-year-old daughter] to think you can be this successful without an education," Wilson said in a statement.
And by this successful, she meant winning a Grammy in 2005, selling 4.5 million copies of her debut album, and watching "Redneck Woman"—Wilson's debut single—spend five weeks at the top of Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.
