Redstone severed ties with Cruise after the actor's infamous couch jumping fray on Oprah Winfrey's daytime talk show and after he went on Matt Lauer's TV show, sphieling hate about antidepressants.
If Cruise and Paramount do reunite for another round of MI, it could increase the star's somewhat damaged public profile, which took a beating after he hooked up with Katie Holmes and sparked a swell of media interest, most of it negative. Resultingly, Mission Impossible III was the least profitable of the trilogy so far.
For what it's worth, we're fine with Cruise and Paramount patching up their differences, too. As long as Cruise holds off on his couch leaping.
