    Bring on Fraggle Rock

Weinstein Brothers to produce live-action version

Who doesn't have a soft spot in their heart for those colorful puppets from Fraggle Rock? Sure, they weren't as prolific, popular, or culturally cool as the Muppets, but the puppets from Fraggle Rock were still fun and irrefutably cute. The Weinstein Brothers are aware of this fact and plan to distribute a live-action musical feature of Jim Henson's classic HBO television show. Fraggle Rock originally premiered in 1983 and ran for five seasons, so now is a perfect time for a nostalgic comeback.

Cory Edwards, who lensed the animated feature Hoodwinked, will direct and write the screenplay. The film will mix human actors with the puppets, making for family-friendly viewing fare. Ahmet Zappa will serve as an executive producer.

Lead Fraggle Rockers such as Gogo, Wembley, Mokey, Boober, and Red will be at the center of the film, interacting with humans whom they perceive as aliens.
