The ladies, especially his current main squeeze Reese Witherspoon, may argue that Jake Gyllenhaal is a prince of a guy. Now he will actually be a prince, at least on screen. The boyishly handsome actor has accepted a royal role in the upcoming fantasy adventure Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. The film is being adapted by Disney and producer Jerry Bruckheimer from the Ubisoft video game.
Production on the film begins in July. Gyllenhaal will play Prince Dastan of sixth century Persia. Dastan will team up with a feisty princess named Tamina, who will be played by English actress Gemma Arterton. The duo will fight to stop an evil nobleman from stealing the sands of time.
Gyllenhaal, who garnered a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his work in 2005's Brokeback Mountain, is next set to appear in Brothers.
