Dan Bradley, who worked as a stunt coordinator on The Bourne Ultimatum, will helm the film, with screenwriter Carl Ellsworth onboard to write the screenplay, while MGM will release the picture. MGM is cornering the market on remakes, having announced in May that it will also be remaking the iconic action film Robocop.
Red Dawn roles have yet to be cast, but the producers have revealed that that remake will retain the original's tone while ushering the setting into the modern, post-September 11 climate of fear, as opposed to the earlier version's focus on American and Soviet/Cuban tensions, which was more topically relevant at the time.
