    All Music Guide Review

Gathering some of modern rock' s finest, Y2K is a stunning compilation illustrating some of music's anthemic tunes to coincide the coming of the 21st century. Paranoia is humorously regarded in 14 retro cuts and plainsongs from Oingo Boingo, Red Rockers, and Love and Rockets. The time warp does not stop there.

Certainly the most obvious highlight is from American trad rock mainstays R.E.M. Their swift declamation on "It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine)" is an appropriate way to kick things off. Ska-revolutionist and indie-pop new waver Terry Hall rouses among the musical spectrum, for he appears twice on Y2K with his two former bands The Specials ("Ghost Town") and Fun Boy Three ("Lunatics (Have Taken Over the Asylum)"). Things get a little poetic with The Sundays, whose song "Here's Where the Story Ends" floats among Madchester favorites, Charlatans UK. Things are great when the Method Man closes things out with his brash "Judgment Day," but where is Europe's "Final Countdown?" ~ MacKenzie Wilson, All Music Guide
