After Nigel Richards' 611 mix series released volumes devoted to jungle (Dieselboy) and tech-house (Richards himself), Derrick Carter took the baton for the best volume yet, a groovy outing dedicated to the kind of uplifting house Carter does better than any other DJ. It all begins with an extended vocal intro from one of the original free-at-last texts (-The Autobiography of Jane Pittman), then works through 20 tracks of intense, body-moving dance music rarely heard on mix albums: "Get Down Wid Yo Bad Self" by Ra-Soul, "Somethin Else" by 2nd Shift, and "You Got to Get Over" by Paul Johnson are all highlights. Carter also leavens the fun with more social messages, as on the universal sentiments expressed on "Brother's Hand" by 6400 Crew. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
