Hard on the eyes and put together on what must have been a very small budget, every volume of SPG's Pure Energy series throws together a random assortment of pop-oriented club hits, many of which were forgotten by the time the discs hit record-store shelves. These discs will be most useful to wedding DJs and those who like dance-pop but aren't concerned with really staying current. Though they're cheap in every sense of the word, each volume does have a small share of enduring tunes. The eighth volume includes Snow's "The Plumb Song," Ludacris' "What's Your Fantasy," Afroman's "Because I Got High," Christina Aguilera's "What a Girl Wants," and Heat's "Let Me Know." ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
