Despite the presence of a few latter-day rap tunes including Queen Latifah's "How I Wish" and Scarface's "Among the Walking Dead," the soundtrack to the Vietnam War drama The Walking Dead concentrates primarily on period Motown hits. Taking care to include some of the label's more socially-conscious classics including Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On?," the Temptations' "Cloud Nine," the Undisputed Truth's "Smiling Faces Sometimes" and (of course) Edwin Starr's "War," it's a cut above the usual soundtrack mishmash designed to evoke nostalgia and little else. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
