All Music Guide Review

In a bizarre turn of events, Basehead's Michael Ivey abandoned slacker suburban life for mystical, spiritual territory on his third album, Faith. He didn't leave behind his trademark amalgam of funk, hip-hop, and kitschy pop but he has become more focused. Unfortunately, you don't listen to Basehead to hear direction -- Ivey's charm has always been in his fragmented, hazy cut-and-paste approach. Though he comes up with some fine results on Faith -- and it has to be seen as a comeback after the rote Not in Kansas Anymore -- the album doesn't quite reach its lofty goals. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
