Bit is a four-CD box containing the first four albums (Samba Esquema Noise, Guentando a Ôia, Carnaval Na Obra, and Por Pouco) released by Mundo Livre S/A, plus a bonus DVD with video clips. Thus, it is a nearly complete collection of the first ten years' worth of output of this unconventional but highly talented group. Unfortunately, Mundo Livre S/A's fifth, and by far most consistent and beautiful album to date, O Outro Mundo de Manuela Rosário, isn't included in the box. There is, of course, still a lot of very good music to be found on Bit. Ever since their first album, released in 1994, Mundo Livre S/A have been hailed by critics as one of Brazil's best and most original bands. Through the years a lot of other Brazilian artists have mixed rock with traditional Brazilian music styles such as samba and bossa nova, but few have managed to make the mix sound as good as Mundo Livre S/A. That, coupled with bandleader Fred Zeroquatro's original melodies and often strong and captivating lyrics, is the simple explanation as to why the band is one of the most highly acclaimed in Brazil. Of the four albums included in this box, Samba Esquema Noise and Por Pouco are the most consistent, Guentando a Ôia the weakest, and Carnaval Na Obra the most uneven (it includes several really excellent tracks as well as a couple of pretty bland ones). ~ Philip Jandovský, All Music Guide
