On this excellent-sounding, well-annotated reissue of the group's highly underrated two albums for Epic Records, the sound is a little more pop-soul than their classic Capricorn Records sides were, and there are harmony vocals on a lot of what's here. That doesn't make it bad, however, just different, and it's all fun as well as mostly very beautiful, especially the songs from Manorisms, which add a certain Motown influence to their established Stax/Volt-inspired work. ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
