The discs stray from the mainstream concentration of the mother series and blend college radio favorites with the kind of artists favored by the magazine's old guard. The 1987-1988 volume features Rod Stewart's "Forever Young," Public Enemy's "Bring the Noise," the Red Hot Chili Peppers' "Fight Like a Brave," the Replacements' "Can't Hardly Wait," Metallica's "One," and John Mellencamp's "Paper in Fire." ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
