    All Music Guide Review

Compiling 19 popular songs from the decade or so proceeding the album's 2006 release, Women and Songs, Vol. 2 is a nice collection for someone wanting radio-friendly pop/rock hits without having to buy the individual records. That seems to be what ties the tracks together (besides the fact that they're all sung by women): that they've all met at least some success. Paula Cole's "I Don't Want to Wait" was a huge hit in 1997, as was Brandy's "Have You Ever" the following year. Actually, for someone wanting to revisit the days when Lilith Fair was queen, as well as brush up on some of the more current chart-seekers (KT Tunstall's "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree," Natasha Bedingfield's "I Bruise Easily"), Women and Songs, Vol. 2 is a more than adequate album. And hey, who actually doesn't want to start singing along when "Stay (I Missed You)" comes on? The answer's no one. ~ Marisa Brown, All Music Guide
