Women Who Swing Chicago presents an overview of some of the female musicians making an impact on Chicago's jazz scene in the late '90s. Really, the only thing binding this material together is the fact that women were largely responsible for it; the range of styles is enormous, from big-band swing and torch balladry to cool jazz, hard bop, and a little avant-garde. Featured artists include Jackie Allen, Patricia Barber, Judy Roberts, Grazyna Auguscik, Spider Saloff, Audrey Morris, Joanie Pallatto, and Juli Wood, among others. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
