Back to Go

All Music Guide Review

Given that Back to Go is not the Third Sex's debut, it seems somewhat simplistic to once again point out their resemblance to Sleater-Kinney -- but it's a thing which is just as necessary here as it was when the band appeared. Yes, the Third Sex has much more of a pop edge than Sleater-Kinney -- the melodies are brighter, and the guitars tend more toward jangle than scratchy riffing -- but the band's general orientation seems a bit too much in line with this general vein of Northwestern rock to come across as anything more than second-string. Which is to say: Back to Go is a solid album, with more than a few snappy little rockers, but it's not a necessity the way an album like Sleater-Kinney's The Hot Rock is. ~ Nitsuh Abebe, All Music Guide
