K-Tel's Aggro 2000 is actually a pretty decent sampler of the late-'90s breed of pseudo-alternative aggro-metal popularized by Korn and Limp Bizkit. Neither of those two groups are here, but some of their best forerunners, disciples, and contemporaries are, running the gamut from industrial metal (Rammstein, Gravity Kills, God Lives Underwater, Fear Factory) to hardcore-influenced alt-metal (Vision of Disorder, Coal Chamber) to snotty juvenilia (the Bloodhound Gang) to highly individual pioneers of the genre (the Rollins Band, Helmet, Type O Negative, Carcass). It isn't a definitive look at alternative metal by any means, but it is an entertaining, varied, and instructive sampler. ~ Steve Huey, All Music Guide
