The first volume of Baseball's Greatest Hits was so packed with nostalgic tributes to and songs about the sport, it's inevitable that Baseball's Greatest Hits: Let's Play 2 doesn't quite live up to that standard. Still, this collection is nearly as enjoyable, thanks to Nat "King" Cole's "First Baseball Game," Sam & Dave's "Knock It Out the Park," Terry Cashman's "Play-By-Play (I Saw It on the Radio)," and Peter, Paul & Mary's "Right Field." Claire Hamill's "Baseball Blues," Thelma Houston's "Bingo Long Song (Steal Home)," and McKinley Mitchell's "That Last Home Run" are some of the album's other musical highlights, while audio clips such as "Bogey on Baseball," "What Sparks a Champion?," and Ernie Harwell's "Game for All America (A Definition of Baseball)" continue the historic flavor of the first volume. Let's Play 2 just isn't as interesting or essential as Baseball's Greatest Hits, but it's still worthwhile for die-hard fans of the game. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
