The Best of Lounge Music is undoubtedly meant for a postmodern lounge, and not the '50s lounge of yore populated by Les Baxter, Martin Denny, Esquivel, and the like. Produced by Atoll Music, the two-disc set runs through a mishmashed panoply of world fusion from all corners of the globe, including a few highlights buried among all the poor transitions and over-evocative fusion.
Included are solid tracks by Cape Verdean treasure Césaria Évora, Brazilians Suba and Wanda Sá, electronica producer Sven Van Hees, Turkish percussionist Omar Faruk Tekbilek, and Parisian Middle Eastern singer Ishtar, but also some really terrible inclusions: case in point being "Desire" by Deepak Chopra and Demi Moore. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
